DURING THE TATTOO

WHAT CAN I DO TO MANAGE THE PAIN?

Try to relax! Tattooing can be a painful experience which can be made worse if you are tense. If you need a break or the pain is too intense, let me know as I will always try to make the experience as bearable as possible and may be able to move to a less sensitive area for a while. Please keep as still as possible during the tattoo, as I can not be held responsible for unpredictable movements.

Breathing and ensuring you are well nourished with food and sugary drinks helps a lot.

WHERE DOES TATTOOING HURT THE MOST?

This will really vary from person to person. There are certain areas that are likely to be more sensitive but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t recommend that you avoid particular areas for this reason, as it would only take away from the  design. Remember it is going to be there for life, so ensure you choose a placement you will love, over temporary discomfort.

CAN I USE NUMBING CREAM?

I would strongly advise against using numbing cream, as it is largely unregulated and individual responses are completely different. It can also change the texture of your skin, making it harder to tattoo and affecting the healing process. Due to the way I freehand the designs onto your skin, by the time we begin to tattoo, the effectiveness of the numbing cream is already beginning to wear off.

Once it has worn off, your body has not built up the adrenaline to adapt and the pain can be unpredictable and more intense than if you had grown accustomed to the pain. People have been getting tattooed for centuries, so trust you can handle it!
