BEFORE MY TATTOO

CAN ANYONE GET A TATTOO?

No, you have to be over the age of 18 to get a tattoo. As it is my legal obligation, I reserve the right to request photographic ID as proof of age. Also, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, I would advise against getting a tattoo due to the infection risk and stress on your body.

Certain medical conditions can affect your suitability for getting a tattoo. Everyone is different and I would advise if you have any concerns, to consult with your doctor. I cannot provide medical advice. I reserve the right to decline a tattoo if I feel it isn't within my style parameters.

Do not drink alcohol the day before your tattoo, as it can thin the blood making it harder to tattoo and also it affects your pain levels during the day and the healing. You can have a drink after as a reward after if you like :) This applies to recreational substances as well.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

I recommend wearing loose fitting clothing, which is easy to move and allow me to access the area to be tattooed. Please bring extra clothes in order to change, e.g. shorts if you are having a leg tattoo, this is for your comfort. Don't wear tight jeans over a leg tattoo. Also consider to wear clothes you are not too precious about, as ink could end up on your clothing.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

I would advise that you bring some snacks and drinks to keep your energy levels up throughout the day. We will take a break for lunch, where you can go purchase food from local shops and cafes if you wish. We do have a microwave and fridge in the studio, should you wish to bring your own food for the day.

If you are booked in for more than one day and are staying in a hotel, we would advise bringing a towel or sufficient clothing to protect the sheets.

If you would prefer to listen to music, ensure you bring your headphones, but I do love to talk :)

WHAT SHOULD I DO ON THE DAY ITSELF?

Please make sure you arrive clean, showered, fresh clothes, deodorant etc. It is also vital that you come well rested and eaten a good breakfast, to provide you with fuel for the day. Tattooing can be a tiring experience and setting yourself up for the day with a good meal is essential.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE THE AREA I’M GETTING TATTOOED IN?

It is beneficial to the tattooing process, if you moisturise the area in the weeks in advance of your appointment. I will shave the area on the day using a disposable razor. Do not do it yourself, as you could have razor rash, which will affect the tattooing process. If you're not sure, please contact me with questions.
